When it comes to fashion, I’m a pretty simple gal. I wear what’s comfortable while looking presentable. I used to care a lot about what I looked like, but I’ve hit a point in my life where I realized it’s just not that important to me anymore.
I try to stick to a similar, if not the same, makeup routine every time I actually put the stuff on. When it comes to accessories, I can’t be bothered matching my bracelets, necklaces, and earrings to every outfit I put on.
I want to wear casual, versatile makeup and jewelry. When I’m traveling, I want a small ensemble of accessories to last me for an entire week. However, more often than not, I end up packing an entire makeup bag, a clump of necklaces, and watches stuffed away in some random pocket.
I haul extra things and, ultimately, get so frustrated with the disorganization that I don’t use any of it at all. In order to make sure I’m only bringing what I need while keeping it organized, I came up with a fool-proof plan for every lazy girl:
The lovely folks at JAVOedge sent me these bags not too long before my trip to Aspen, CO. Going to the mountains in late fall for a long weekend without a checked bag? Stuffing my belongings into a carry-on bag is my specialty, but these bags made my life a whole lot easier.
I was able to pack away everything I needed while keeping it all organized and tucked away. Eyeshadow, lipgloss, lip balm, shampoo, conditioner, necklaces—you name it. The bags were a real lifesaver, and they are an essential part of packing efficiently.

Lay out everything you need, then pack it up.
When I pack, I make sure to lay out every item I’m thinking of taking with me. I’m typically packing at the last minute, so getting one last look at everything before I pack it away saves me a lot of money.
Buying toothbrushes, headphones, or bathing suits at my final destination can get costly.
When I lay out all of my makeup and jewelry, I normally get an overwhelming feeling that I should leave it all behind. With a small, functional, neat place to put it all, it’s so much easier to pack without feeling like a physical and mental mess.
Get a good visual of what you actually need before driving yourself crazy trying to fit it all into your carry-on and personal item.
Even if you don’t carefully choose which compartment is which, just stuff in whatever fits!
I’m sure you can guess my knowledge of makeup and jewelry is limited. You also know my organizational skills when it comes to packing is minimal. I look at a lot of brushes and creams and wonder what the heck I’m supposed to do with it. Looking at cosmetic bags is no different.
I’m sure companies like JAVOedge make certain compartments with specific items in mind. Does a true lazy girl know the difference? No. If it fits, that’s it’s new spot! If you’re gifted and know which spot is for which object, by all means, fill it up appropriately. I will say, though, that no matter how you fill it up, a compact bag is going to save your trip.
If you don’t wear makeup or jewelry, use a cosmetic-like bag to pack all your small items.
Headphones, travel-sized soap, toothpaste, toothbrush, hand sanitizer—when you finally get a bag that holds all these things together, you realize how many tiny objects you’re packing. You don’t normally stop to notice what’s tucked here and what’s buried there.
Being organized doesn’t always need to be a ton of work. I’m notorious for spending the least amount of time possible packing my bags for a trip. I so desperately want to be organized, but who really wants to spend all that time packing and organizing? (Other than my mom.)
Make it easy for yourself and get a bag like mine from JAVOedge. Get a bigger one to fit more of your stuff, or invest in another type of organizer that best fits your needs. Whichever one suits your lifestyle, there’s always something to make packing for a trip that much easier.
